Impact Program
Action-based learning at Metropolitan Preparatory Academy
What is Metro Prep Impact?
Metro Prep Impact is the action-based learning program at Metropolitan Preparatory Academy. Students work on projects that go beyond traditional assignments—creating work that has real-world relevance and purpose.
The Youth Mental Health project is one of these initiatives. Students contribute by researching established concepts, writing explanations for a general audience, and learning how to communicate responsibly about mental health topics.
Program Values
Students learn by doing. Rather than just studying mental health, they research, write, and create educational resources.
The work students do isn't just for grades—it's published and accessible to anyone who wants to learn.
Students work within clear guidelines for accuracy, appropriate scope, and responsible communication.
Beyond content, students develop research skills, writing ability, and understanding of complex topics.
Student Contributions
Students contribute to this project in several ways:
- 1 Research: Reading psychology textbooks, peer-reviewed journals, and clinical guides to find accurate information
- 2 Writing: Translating complex concepts into clear, accessible explanations for a general audience
- 3 Recording: Creating narrated audio explanations of skills
- 4 Review: Ensuring content stays within appropriate educational boundaries
Important Note
Students are not acting as counsellors, therapists, or mental health professionals. They are learning how to research and explain educational concepts responsibly. All content is reviewed for accuracy and appropriateness before publication.
